I love doing rag quilts. This was a pattern from a book I found and thought it was adorable. I used batik fabrics for all the layers and it goes together so quickly. -Joanne, Peotone, IL, USA (Quilt ID 1711)

My kids, with the help of my mom, made little quilted "self-portraits" as a Mother's Day present for me. They measure about 4" wide by 12" tall. My mom had found a panel of fabic with different kids' body parts that could be mixed and matched. My kids chose each section for their piece, colored them with fabric crayons, chose backing fabric and Mom sewed them together. It was a wonderful surprise and a great gift! - Tammy, Wilton Center, IL, USA (Quilt ID 1501)

This quilt was made for me by my grandmother, Arba Meyers, when I was born in 1942. She lived in Chicago at that time. It is appliqued and very pretty. It hasn't faded much over time. I really don't know much about it. My mother had saved it and gave it to me when my first daughter was born. - Joanne, Peotone, IL, USA

This quilt was made as a gift for me when I was born. The story goes that it was from a friend of my grandmother (my dad's mom). After my grandmother passed away, my mom was going through her belongings and found the same fabrics used in the quilt mixed in with my grandmother's other sewing things. So it is possible that it was made by my grandmother. A family mystery that will never be solved! - Tammy, Wilton Center, IL, USA

This baby quilt was purchased while browsing through an antique shop. All I know about it is that I liked the design. The squares are embroidered in green and each show a child doing all different activites. - Tammy, Wilton Center, IL, USA
