Have you heard the bad news? On Sept. 24th, Mark Lipiniski announced that he is no longer involved in the Quilter's Home magazine and in his QNNtv.com show called Quilt Out Loud.

I really liked that magazine. His wacky sense of humor and unique articles made for interesting reading. I'm hoping the magazine will continue with the same kinds of articles and not turn into just another quilt pattern magazine!

Mark is hinting at bigger and better things to come, so hopefully we won't have to wait long.

Sep 2, Will County Fair Ribbons

The 2009 county fair brought my daughter's first Blue Ribbon for a quilt she made for her grandma. She's so proud of it that she wanted to keep the quilt now. I told her that she could keep the ribbon, but the quilt had to go back to Grandma.

My mom won a 1st place ribbon for a stack-n-whack quilt and 2 2nd place ribbons. One of them is in the Paper-Piecing category and she had never paper-pieced before.

I won a 1st place, a 2nd place and a 3rd place ribbon.

Pretty good showing for all of us!

Inmates in Missouri have created two quilts as fundraisers for sending World War II veterans on an Honor Flight to Washington, DC to see the WWII Memorial. Their goal is to raise enough funds to send 10 veterans. Read the full story at the link below.

I'm entering quilts in the Will County Fair and in the Farm and Barn Fest in Mokena. I decided to enter the same 4 quilts, to make it easier for me to keep track of. Last year, I entered a quilt in the Will County Fair that I hadn't even started yet. What a crazy thing to do. This year, I entered a queen-size quilt, called "Cat Twirls", that is almost done, but not quite. I just have a 12" border to quilt and then binding. The others are done. They are titled "Cats and The Mouse", "Lilac Runner", and "Emily's Rainbow". You can see "Emily's Rainbow", my daughter's quilt, at this link. I'll let you know if I win any ribbons.
