Lone Star quilts got their name from Texas quilters

Lone Star quilts are made with a large central star, made of diamond shaped pieces. Colors are usually placed so that they radiate out from the center. The stars can be appliqued on the background or pieced into it.

The Lone Star pattern goes by many names. Mathematical Star, Star of Bethlehem, Star of the East and Morning Star are just 4 of them. If there are many smaller stars, the pattern is known as Blazing Stars. If the Blazing Stars touch, then it is called Touching Stars. (I feel like I am writing a Dr. Seuss book!)
