Grandma's Dresden Plate Friendship quilt

by Colleen Pollock
(Duncan, Oklahoma)

I have made this quilt for my oldest daughter, using 6 dresden plate blocks made by my mother in law. These blocks were made in early 1940's. We never knew she ever quilted or did embroidery. She died in 2003 and we found these blocks carefully packed away.
I have used 1930's reproduction fabrics and the colors match so well. The log cabin blocks seemed to just fit it with Grandma's blocks. Each plate block has the name of one of her girlfriends and 4 blocks have embroidered flowers.
My daughter can hand it down to her daughter someday.
