Quilt related novels, like Elm Creek Quilts books, are one way to feed your love of quilts and reading.
I've come across a series of quilt related novels, called Elm Creek Quilts books, that I have enjoyed. The author, Jennifer Chiaverini, has written at least 10 in the series so far.
They can be enjoyed by quilters and non-quilters alike, since the stories are really about the lives of the characters, who just happen to be quilters. Of course, their quilting activities figure into the plots, but not too much that non-quilters would lose interest.
These would be a great gift idea for the quilter in your life, yourself included!
One of the recent novels is A Quilter's Kitchen. It is a short novel that includes many of the recipes that have been mentioned before. Some sound pretty good and I'll probably try a couple. I was a little disappointed with the short length of the actual story though.
The next novel in the series is called A Quilter's Holiday. And I just found out about another new one coming in Spring 2010 called The Aloha Quilt. I can't wait to get each one and read it!
In addition to the novels, there have been a couple books published that have the patterns of the quilts mentioned in the Elm Creek books. They would make another great quilt-related gift.
