Quilt related novels, like Elm Creek Quilts books, are one way to feed your love of quilts and reading.

I've come across a series of quilt related novels, called Elm Creek Quilts books, that I have enjoyed. The author, Jennifer Chiaverini , has written at least 10 in the series so far.

They can be enjoyed by quilters and non-quilters alike, since the stories are really about the lives of the characters, who just happen to be quilters. Of course, their quilting activities figure into the plots, but not too much that non-quilters would lose interest.

These would be a great gift idea for the quilter in your life, yourself included! They are available through Amazon.com.

The newest book in the series, The Wedding Quilt, just came out and there's another scheduled for early 2012. In 2010, I came across a nearby quilt guild that was having a book signing with Jennifer Chiaverini. I signed my mom and I up right then without even asking if Mom wanted to go. It was a snowy day, but we went and it was a very interesting talk.

In addition to the novels, there have been some quilt pattern books published that have the patterns of the quilts mentioned in the Elm Creek books. They would make another great quilt-related gift.

Our local quilt shop, Top Shelf Quilts , just finished a Block of the Month series that had over 80 blocks from Sylvia's wedding quilt. The series ran for over a year and here's a picture of the group that got together at the end to share their completed tops and quilts.

You can see more of these quilts individually at the Sampler page.
