Display your quilt properly to enjoy it longer.

Display your quilt in an area with low light, good ventilation and comfortable humidity. Light (sunlight or artificial light) can cause the colors in your quilt to fade and the damage is irreversible.

Laying your quilt on a bed, as intended, will distribute the weight evenly over the whole quilt. You can spread a sheet over the top if it will not be viewed for a while to protect it from light, dust, etc. In my house, everything needs to be protected from our cats!

You could also fold the quilt over a:
  • free standing quilt rack
  • wall mounted quilt shelf
  • ladder
  • back of a chair
If possible, pad the folds with acid-free tissue paper and regularly refold it to prevent permanent creases.

To hang a quilt on a wall, sew a hanging sleeve along the top edge. Then run a rod through the sleeve and either hang the rod from the ceiling or on brackets like those used for curtains.

Never use nails, staples or pins to hold up a quilt. They make holes that will enlarge over time from the weight of the quilt.

By displaying your quilt properly, you will help preserve it while you are enjoying it!
