A Baby Quilt makes a great gift and is useful, too.

Giving a baby quilt to an expectant mom or new mom is one of my favorite things to do. It is both a gift of love and something that will be used and hopefully, passed down to the next generation or two.

Traditionally, baby quilts were mini versions of full size quilts. They were made to fit the cradles and beds of the time. There weren't any child themed fabrics, so the colors might be chosen to appeal to a baby or child.

Today, just about anything goes. Baby quilts can be any color or design. Pink, blue, yellow and green are popular, of course. Pastels are soothing to baby and mom. Bright, primary colors are very fun for quilts that can be used for playmats.

There are even fabrics with licensed characters from cartoons and books, like Winnie the Pooh. Fabrics can be cotton, flannel, fleece, or this soo soft Minkee fabric that is great for babies.

Enjoy the Baby Quilts pictured among the pages here.

There are some in the Animal Quilts section, the Patchwork Quilts section and the Sunbonnet Sue section.
