Hi, I'm Tammy and I'm the creator of Quilt-Pictures.com. I hope you are enjoying all the quilt pictures! I love seeing quilts that others have made or own. I find it very interesting to see the color choices and pattern preferences made by my quilting friends. All my quilting friends know that I like bright colors and odd or unusual patterns. What's your favorite? I started sewing as a teenager. My mom says that the money she spent on those sewing lessons was the best money she ever spent on me! I made many different types of clothes for myself and some for my sister. I enjoy the creativity of choosing the pattern and material and ending up with something that no one else has. Since my son was born in 1996, most of my clothes sewing has been alterations (mostly shortening things for my daughter, mom and sister), patches on jeans for my husband and son, and halloween costumes for all my family members, even my dad's dog (it was a hot dog costume). I've been quilting for over 15 years and most of what I make are gifts for family and friends. My favorite part of the quilting process is piecing the top together. All my quilts are machine sewn and quilted. After struggling with machine sewing the bindings on for many years, I have discovered I enjoy finishing each quilt with a hand-sewn french binding. It looks so much better than my machine sewn bindings, but I can usually only work for about an hour at a time before my hands tell me it's time to do something else. (I used to do a lot of cross-stitch, but that handwork never transferred to quilting. I think the speed of machine sewing is why. That and now after years of clutching the embroidery ring in one hand and the tiny needle in the other, my hands hurt very quickly when hand sewing.) In my real life, I am many things. Just like you, I'm sure!
My goal in creating this website is partly a selfish one. I don't get to as many quilt shows as I'd like to any more and I want to see other quilts! Now I can see what you submit and share them with everyone. What a great way to spend my non-quilting time and still be involved in the quilting world.
My site, quilt-pictures.com, was created using a web hosting system called Site Build It! It has everything that you need to start a web-based business or add a web presence to your existing business. Here's one statement from another SBI customer whose life have been changed by Site Build It! "Tamar and I did lots and lots of research on kid birthday parties and started experimenting with our ideas on kids and during parties whenever the opportunity arose. We wrote up lots of content for the site and I was in charge of strategy and building the site from a technical aspect (although, with Site Build It!, you really don't need any technical knowledge because you can build a site through simple building blocks and monitor every aspect of traffic through a consolidated control center.). In no time, both of us became kid birthday junkies."
